21세기 ‘제르미날(Germinal)’은 폐광으로 인해 비록 광산 내부에 진입해서 그 현장을 목도할 수 없게 되었지만, 아직은 그것을 증언해 줄 수 있는 사람들이 남아있었다. 살시니유는 전직 광부, 광산협회(Mine et Mémoire), 광산마을 주민들과의 대화를 기록한 광산에 대한 구술서이다. 이 책은 크게 5개의 챕터로 구성되어 있다. 각 챕터는 광산터 탐사, 광산의 역사와 이주 노동자, 폐광에 맞선 두 번의 사회운동을 다룬다. 이 조사는 작가와 마을 주민들 사이의 유대를 형성 하며 후속작 태양 없이로 이어지는 중요한 교두보가 되었다.

The 21st-century Germinal begins in a time when the mine has already been shut down—making it impossible to enter and witness the wealth that once lay underground—but some who can still testify to it remain. Salsigne is an oral history of the mine, compiled through conversations with former miners, the mining association(Mine et Mémoire), and residents of the mining village. The book is structured into five main chapters, each covering topics such as explorations of the former mining site, the history of the mine and migrant laborers, and two major social movements that rose up against its closure. This research formed a bond between the artist and the local community, becoming a critical stepping stone toward the follow-up work Sim Solel.
