이케 놓고 그래도 난 도네|Hic et Nunc: Grande Randonnée|2021

이케눙크는 2018년 머피염, 고영찬, 김민석 세 명의 창작자에 의해 결성된 프로젝트 그룹이다. 당시 같은 학교에 재학 중이던 그들은 이대로 가다가는 머지않아 창작 활동을 그만둬야 할지도 모른다는 위기감에 사로잡히게 된다. 스스로를 예술가로 정체화한 개인 혹은 집단이 창작은 고사하고 당장 다음 달의 집세마저도 감당할 수가 없는 암울한 현실을 마주했을 때, 비로소 예술과 생존은 서로 불가분의 관계를 맺는다. 프로젝트 이케 놓고 그래도 난 도네는 바로 이러한 ‘예술-생존’, 즉 예술 행위와 생존주의적 태도가 기묘하게 결합된 경계적 예술 형식에 대한 실험이다. 어쩌면 이는 예술이라는 형식 자체의 ‘쓸모’를 묻는 일종의 존재론적 자폭, 재귀적 농담으로 기능하고 있는지도 모른다.

ikénunk was formed in 2018 as a project group by three creators—Murphy Yum, Ko Youngchan, and Kim Min-suck. At the time, they were attending the same school and were gripped by a sense of crisis: if things continued as they were, they might soon have to give up their creative pursuits altogether. When individuals or collectives who identify as artists are faced with the grim reality of not even being able to pay next month’s rent—let alone continue creating—art and survival become inextricably linked. The project Hic et Nunc: Grande Randonnée is an experiment in this very boundary form of art, where artistic practice and a survivalist mindset are strangely intertwined. In a way, it might function as a kind of ontological self-destruction or a recursive joke, questioning the very “usefulness” of the form we call art.
