때는 2020년, 프랑스에서 공부하던 라트비아 국적의 미술학도 Bernadete Poikāne는 교환학생 프로그램을 이수하기 위해 독일의 수도 베를린에 당도한다. 하지만 도착 직후 발동된 팬데믹 2차 격리 조치로 인해 대부분의 시간을 단칸방에 홀로 고립된 채 보내야만 하는 안타까운 상황에 처하게 되고… 그러던 도중 우연히 유튜브 알고리즘의 은혜로 K-팝 아이돌 그룹 BTS의 영상을 접하게 된 그녀는 멤버 ‘지민’의 매력에 푹 빠지게 된다. 영상 작품 Once You JIMIN You Can’t JIMOUT은 그렇게 태어난 지민에 대한 찬가이자, 코로나 시대에 대한 비망록이다.
이케눙크는 이처럼 서로 다른 시공에 유리된 채 마주 닿을 수 없었던 이야기들이 코로나를 매개로 우연히 교차하는 순간들을 발견하고, 코로나 이후 어떤 ‘강화된 감각(들)’에 주목한다.

In 2020, Bernadete Poikāne, a Latvian art student studying in France, arrived in Berlin, the capital of Germany, to complete a student exchange program. However, due to the second wave of pandemic lockdowns imposed shortly after her arrival, she found herself in a difficult situation—confined alone for most of the time in a small, single-room apartment. During this period of isolation, she happened to stumble upon videos of the K-pop idol group BTS, thanks to the blessings of the YouTube algorithm. Captivated by the charm of member Jimin, she quickly fell under his spell. The video work Once You JIMIN You Can’t JIMOUT was born out of this moment—both a hymn to Jimin and a personal chronicle of the COVID era.
ikénunk, in turn, seeks to discover these chance encounters—moments when stories once isolated across distant times and spaces suddenly intersect through the shared context of the pandemic. In doing so, they draw attention to the emergence of certain heightened senses that have developed in the post-COVID world.
